Collaborative Robots: Boosting the Recovery and Development of the Hospitality Industry

After the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospitality industry has welcomed a new lease on life. However, the issue of staff shortages that emerged since the start of the pandemic has continued to plague the further development of hotels.

Facing the contradiction between increasing customer demands and a lack of labor, collaborative robots can help the hotel industry turn the corner. Additionally, collaborative robots will also help hotels achieve a balance between technology and personalized service, enhancing the competitiveness of hotels.

Filling the Labor Gap

As the name suggests, the purpose of collaborative robots is to work in tandem with human colleagues, handling tasks that are more time-consuming and labor-intensive. For hotels suffering from staff shortages, collaborative robots can provide additional support to the existing team, filling the labor gap. For instance, SoftBank Robotics' Whiz cleaning robot can remember multiple cleaning routes and can vacuum an area of about 1,500 square meters on a single charge, and can clean at any time of the day.

Collaborative robots will take over menial and time-consuming tasks from employees. The purpose of collaborative robots is not to replace humans but to make employees' work easier and free up team members to provide better customer service.

Achieving a Balance Between Technology and Human Interaction

On the other hand, collaborative robots can help hotels achieve a balance between technology and human interaction, providing customers with a better hotel experience. A new report titled "People and Tech: What Guests Want in 2023," commissioned by hospitality technology providers Zonal and CGA, surveyed more than 5,000 Britons, revealing customers' attitudes towards the use of technology in hotels. The report shows that 71% of consumers prefer to use technology when visiting hotel venues, whether used independently or in combination with human interaction.

Collaborative robots perfectly meet customers' dual demands for technology and personalized service. With the help of collaborative robots, employees will have more energy to provide comprehensive services for hotel guests.
